Using animation, Sanjay Patel blurs the line between art and pop culture, adapting ancient artifacts into modern interpretations. Illustrating Hindu deities, or gods, with computer software allows Patel to raise questions in the viewer's mind as to what is original and what is a knockoff. Click on the images above to learn more!

Patel creates a modern interpretation of (or a modern take on) ancient artwork of Hindu gods. Can you tell from looking at the pictures what each god is known for? Before Patel begins making his animations, he sketches out his ideas and fills in colors and details later. Try to imagine what these sketches would look like if they were complete. What details would you add or leave out?
